Black Coffee Sets New Record During 60-hour Set
Soweto came to a standstill this past long weekend, as internationally renowned DJ and music producer Nkosinathi Maphumulo, otherwise known as Black Coffee, conducted a sixty-hour long DJing extravaganza.
Held at the Soweto Maponya mall from Thursday, September 23 to Sunday September 26, Black Coffee's Guiness World Records attempt was intended to raise funds for the DJ Black Coffee Foundation, a nonprofit organisation that assists disabled individuals across the country.
Minutes before embarking on an almost impossible mission, Black Coffee went onto social networking site Facebook and asked supporters if they would put him in their prayers. From the moment he stepped on the stage and started getting busy, messages of support poured endlessly onto his Facebook page. One of these encouraging messages read, "Congratulations Black Coffee, World Record. One DJ, one hand and 60 hours. You are my hero."
